An homage to the great illustrator Howard Pyle. I was struck by the powerful mood of the lighting and subtle design elements of his "Marooned" painting of a desolate pirate stranded on a desert island. His hopelessness contrasted with the beauty of the scene. My study of his painting became a thought of someone reading "Treasure Island" in the same setting, but blissfully unconcerned about being left to die on a desert island alone. Framed in solid mahogany frame molding, handcrafted by the artist.
